Back to school: 600 children equipped, 300 school fees paid

August 2019: the Foundation’s second action brings displaced children back to class.

01

The challenge

After three years of crisis in the North-West and South-West, many displaced children had been out of school, and many parents could not afford to send them back.

02

What we did

Nursery and primary pupils were chosen door to door from among the poorest families. They received school supplies (exercise books, textbooks and bags), and parents received help to pay their children’s school fees.

03

What changed

More than 600 displaced children started the school year with the materials they needed, and school fees were paid for 300 children (figures from the Foundation’s films). The Foundation’s Facebook post of 18 August 2019 reports books and basic school necessities for over 300 underprivileged children at that day’s distribution, and 25 children sponsored to school.

In their words

Education is the key pointer in our lives, I can only dream to see every child educated.

What happens next

The Foundation announced a health follow-up for displaced families as its next campaign, and runs a back-to-school campaign every year.
